Home Inspiration: Flowers

I'd love to have more plants at home, and Juliet Totten's New York apartment is really inspiring. She grows lavender, rosemary, lemons, ferns and mosses next to the windows, and this summer she plans to grow tomatoes and strawberries (in a NYC apartment--awesome). And see the small red-and-yellow bouquet next to the mirrors? They're actually paper decoupage flowers attached to wires! Genius.

P.S. A plant table.

  6. Putting out fresh flowers from the garden has the same affect as stuffing dirty dishes in the oven.
    Mamma's rule.

    Clean out the sink,
Clean the floors, dust eye level surfaces,
clean the toilet, leave the cleaner in it, and slap out fresh flowers.
    Shut all other doors.

  34. I've been trying to create a little oasis/garden in my condo, too, but my obstacle is two of my kitties. They LOVE chewing on plants and some of them might be bad for them - but they look sooo beautiful!

BTW, I'm in SRQ - about an hour & 1/2 north of Naples! We're really close, Joanna - the highs gonna be in the 70's this weekend! :)
PPS: I adored GAP maternity jeans & cords when I was pregnant! SOO comfy!

  39. A house is not a home unless it has live plants in it...Johanna's philosophy on home living :)

Plants used to never last more than a month at my place. Once I had my son they started living longer...perhaps I learned to pay more attention after he came along!

  49. lemons?! brilliant!

if anyone has any hint of flat-ish outdoor space (i have a third floor, city front porch) i have had amazing luck with earth boxes (that's the brand; no they're not paying me they're just that good!)

i've planted and successfully grown tomatoes (beefsteak and cherry), green peppers (several varieties), sage, basil, parsley, jalapenos...my city garden was amazing, and it took NO land and minimal care.

    just suggestin'!

    cheers,

I'm obsessed with the green painted bureau and lemon tree of the first photo, but I just came back to this post after a fews days and noticed the adorable boots-as-gardening-tool-holder in the third photo - so cute! I wonder if they're real boots repurposed, or if it's a tool-holder that looks like boots? Lovely post either way, J!

  69. Plants play an important role. They are not just a decorative accessories in our houses, they also bring into the homes life and keep air fresh. Healthy plants produce a feeling of vitality and they can positively change any room and fill it with abundant life. This nice pictures just inspire people to try to create a little oasis like on them.

Wish you a lot of inspiring ideas.
