J. Crew fall collection

J. Crew presented their fall collection last week, and everything looks gorgeous, old-fashioned and tomboy-ish. I love the burnt reds and mustard yellows, and the knee-high socks paired with winter shorts are so laid-back and sexy. What do you guys think? xo

  2. Holy cats, I freaking love this.

The palette is gorgeous, and I love the super-feminine knee socks with the rougher tweeds and plaids.

    WELL DONE, J.Crew.

  3. yes, mari, the tweeds are amazing!!!

  4. I'm absolutely crazy about those four individual model stills... especially the adorable model with the thigh highs and flowers in her bag :)

I would love to be seen in this collection. High five for J. Crew, yes?

  8. Wow - so retro! Reminds me of a musical or something, but I can't put my finger on which one.

  9. Very nice. I really like the wool shorts with the gray thigh highs. And that rose-colored little furry jacket in the first photo looks amazing. I'm usually not a fan of pink, but that looks really pretty.

  10. It's downright embarrassing how much JCrew I wear... ;) LOVE the Fall collection!

  11. I only started to wear J Crew stuff when they moved away from their WASP-y, New England prep style and became a little more appropriate for non-white girls. This, however, is moving again towards a style that I, as an Asian woman, can not imagine myself in. It looks great, (except I don’t like dress-shorts) but I think any other ethnicity would look ridiculous wearing any of this stuff.

I do give J Crew credit for having an Asian model in their catalogs though, I think more companies should do the same. It’s weird when out of 15 models, 1 is black and 1 is Asian. That’s not what the real world looks like.

  15. I was introduced to j.crew a few years ago when a friend was wearing a lovely pair of pants and she mentioned they were from J.crew. Now that I;m living overseas it's difficult to find any stores on this side of the globe. Oh well for now, Zara and Mango's it is.

  16. Not so sure about the yellow plaid blanket-coat, but other than that, I like the muted palette and funky textures!

  17. the cozy grey heathered socks and thigh highs are fantastic with the sweet lace up oxfords.

only 5 months until fall :)

  20. All the clothes are, as usual, beautiful! I think the styling really does it though. Reminds me of Alexa Chung for Madewell, no? Thank you for sharing!!

  21. Stunning!!!! I wish they were just not so expensive!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Love all the looks but my favorite is the first one! :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Fabulous outfits! J.Crew definitely jumped over its head with this collection!

    ReplyDelete
  24. *sigh* lovely as always!!! I want everything ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Seriously, they look like rejects from a stage play of "Oliver Twist." So, I guess that's a not-so-much from me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I want everything. I remember how when I was in catholic school i hated wearing knee highs and skirts and now i can't get enough of the knee high look and skirts. hahaha

Also the photoshoot reminds me of Fiddler on the Roof...

  27. I'm just getting into spring fashion: apple green, lilac, coral! I can't think about fall fashion now! All of this is totally unattractive to me because I'm so spring-focused. I'll revisit it in August/September. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. shut the front door.
how do they always get it RIGHT?
i want to wear a plaid blanket as a cape now!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. J. Crew just keeps getting better and better. I'm not excited for fall, but these clothes are lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  30. OMG there's not a bad look in the bunch. And I'm such a sucker for tweed and plaid...

  32. For how affordable their clothing is I love the attention to detail, the way they style the pieces, and the overall touch of luxury. J.crew definitely has every part of the equation right season after season and they continue to get better.

  33. Well I CAN tell you I didn't thinK I was a big fan of jcrew but............. Apparently, I am now. I love this.

    Thanks for the post.

    Love it.

  34. I am glad they're getting away from all of the ruffly tops and jackets and back to being a little more inspired by the classics. I'm not loving the models' hair overall... a bit too messy; maybe slightly toned down bedhead would be doable.
Now if they would just bring their prices down a smidge so I didn't have to keep waiting for everything to go on sale plus an extra percent off!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think the styling is hideous! It looks like gypsy-clown-ragamuffin-chaos to me. With a splash of hobo!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh, and I forgot: a big "NO!" vote on the furry vest and jacket in the first photo. How many real women are going to be able to pull those looks off without being laughed at? I mean, really!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Love it! As I always do. Every time someone asks me what I want on gift giving occasions I say "there is nothing on the J.Crew website that I don't want!". I think this particular collection supports that statement quite nicely!!
Now I'm looking forward to fall and spring hasn't even really started yet!

    ReplyDelete
  38. haha," shut the front door." D&D, i love that :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. as excited as I am about the onset of spring, the delicious fall clothes make me swoony. Yes, D&D, plaid blanket capes for all!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Awesome! I am so happy to see that flower accents will still be hot in the fall. I hate when trends leave so quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I adore these looks in theory, but I think any woman who wears any of these head-to-toe would be in danger of looking like they're going to a costume party. I think perhaps the idea is to take elements of these individual looks and make them your own. I love the tights, knee-highs (even though I couldn't pull them off in a million years) and tweed jackets. And those red lips!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love those. They have a vintage 1920's feel to them!! I fear I might be developing a new addiction! xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  43. i have been completely and totally obsessing over it since i first saw it. the hair is beyond incredible.

    perfect styling.

  45. I think it's spectacular!! I posted about the girl in the geek chic tortoise frames last week. Love what they're doing with the piles of sparkly brooches too. Gorgeous!

  47. I am so in love with this. The faded charcoal backdrop they used in their shoot just sets off everything perfectly.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Love it! Very old New England with a twist.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love the hats. Love the tomboy-ness and the color palette. Just wondering if you have to lean on a chair or sit on a stool to pull it off? :)

  50. This is why I love fall. All of the rich colors.

Does anyone else think this photo shoot looks like a sad production of Our Town? Just put a little fake dirt on their faces and you're in a high school drama class!

  59. so thirties and stylish!

  60. Jcrew is the best. Simple, clean & classic! I wore one of their dresses for my wedding too :). This fall line is delicious.

  62. I'm so obsessed with the JCrew fall collection. I want everything!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I really do love J Crew and they're aesthetic but I think the
Grey Gardens look is wearing thin.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wow I am actually pleasantly surprised that J Crew is going with a more edgy look this season. Very excited by this styling.

    ReplyDelete
  65. the first photo looks like a pride of lions!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Pretty cute stuff! But isn't it nuts how they conceptualize their seasons more than a year in advance? I got to tour their design studios (fellow journalist here) and they actually begin planning future seasons' clothes 18 months in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  67. LOVE! So edgy and fun.
I hate that J. Crew gets the "cougar moms or sorority girls only" wrap at lot of the time. Not only the cardigans are amazing! :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hiring that lady was the best thing the Crew ever did. They just keep killin' it with every collection! LOVE!

  72. no famine of beauty here...

the muted, less-saturated palette combined with pops of rust, mustard and army green remind me of max's photos!

speaking of max, josh and i loved our engagement session with him & margaux. (discovered max via your blog over a year ago.) we're not a camera friendly couple, but max totally made things work. thanks a bunch, joanna :-D

  74. I am not a fan of j.crew. For all their recent push away from clean lines and into intricate detailing the past few years, I still think jcrew pieces come off as unimaginative and standard. When I see a jcrew piece, I *know* it's a jcrew piece, and I'm not talking about the positive aspect of branding, either.
Jcrew's clothes look to me as though an unadventurous, self-proclaimed fashionista woke up one day and declared "I want to be a hipster!"

It's Dickens/Oliver ick. Outside a fashion shoot very little is wearable. they can try as much as they want to try winter shorts: they were tacky in the 1970s & they're tacky now. Sorry.

  76. While I am not even ready to think about fall yet, I was excited to see this post. J. Crew has been my go to wardrobe staple since college. It is still classic yet a bit edgy. I love the color palette and fabrics that they have chosen. Just not sure about those vests.

  78. I'm slightly in love with this... which is odd because I'm not normally fond of brown!

  79. I'm happy to see tights are here to stay :-) I'd like to try a pair under some cut off denim shorts...
Also not tired of over-the-knee socks and women's oxfords!
    Thanks for the sneak peak.

  84. I love jcrew but I am not loving the direction of the catalogs lately. The models look unhappy which is very different from their usual feel.

    ReplyDelete
  85. J.Crew just keeps raising the bar. I think there will be a lot more fashionista wearing their pieces thanks to this collection. I already have my eye on the tweeds.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Love, love love it! Jcrew has totally begun to take fashion seriously and announce their creative inspirations etc. Sooo great! Check out my good blog about my life as an expat in France!

  87. I like the skirts in the spring more than these from the fall, but these aren't bad either. Banana Republic has many good options this season as well.

  88. Oh, I sympathize. Omegle My husband and I were working for the same company Omegle Sohbet when I was pregnant, and I can't count how many times I hauled him out of his office out to the parking Omegle Chat lot so I could have a meltdown. (because of course I couldn't do it alone, I had to have a witness and then a hug after...)
I'd much rather have Omegle that than a huge diamond! So much classier. Graham Cluley, omegle a researcher at security firm Sophos, Görüntülü Chat told BBC News that Twitter needs "much tighter control" over what users can put in a tweet to prevent similar problems in the future.
