medusa! i LOVE halloween. also, i laughed out loud at the lobster costume, that is fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I can't get over how cute the little boy in the Max costume is! I love his little crown...
ReplyDeleteI'd say my best costume ever was the year I dressed up as a dice (I painted a big cardboard box black, put spots on it for the dice numbers, and cut a hole for my head and arms). This year I'm running my fifth marathon (just completed Berlin!) on October 30th, so I'd say this year's Halloween costume is going to be "girl who can walk normally!"
ReplyDeleteBecca
MAX!! I love it!! I will be a mauled and maimed Goldilocks, and my husband will be Papa bear who wasn't too happy when he found me eating his porridge!!
ReplyDeleteOh, the lobster! That's adorable!
ReplyDeleteOur family is going to be a mish-mash of things - husband is going to be a 70's hippie, I'm going to be Abby Sciuto from the show NCIS, and our dog is going to be a bumblebee :)
aww a shark! that's cute. haha that lobster is so funny.
ReplyDeletei'm not sure! and i'm always sure so this is a huge dilemma for me! Still thinking.
Lindsay
I love the lobster one! If one parent dressed up as a cow the whole family could be "surf and turf."
ReplyDeletejamie, that is HILARIOUS.
ReplyDeleteThe Max costume is adorable! My little guy was one of the wild things a few years ago. It was a blast making the costume and a great excuse to put chubby baby boy legs in tights!
ReplyDeleteThis year he's going to be a horse. He's obsessed!
John and Yoko or Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. (No, I don't have multiple personalities, I just like for me and my husband to dress up as famous couples. Last year we were Dr. House and Cuddy but people didn't really get that one).
ReplyDeleteif toby is a shark, what can alex and i dress up as? maybe alex can have a bloody missing arm or something.
ReplyDeletekiana, ooooh, mr darcy!!!!
ReplyDeleteOooo! I say dress up as characters from "Jaws" like Roy Schneider and Lorraine Brody (and maybe wear name tags for reference)!
ReplyDeleteBecca
toby's shark cosume is great. he will look cute!
ReplyDeletethese are adorable. i think i'm gonna be Pocahontas? i have dark hair and tanish skin and my friend has a costume from a few years ago so it's quick, cheap and easy. my kinda costume :)
ReplyDeleteif toby is a shark, you two can be swimmers with missing body parts! or be scuba divers?
So cute!! My son is going to be Obi Wan Kenobi and my daughter is going as a cupcake this year. I was hoping for something that would work together but they're getting a little too old for that (and have their own ideas of what they want to be). I'm sure Obi Wan Kenobi ate some cupcakes in his day, so I think it works!
ReplyDeleteI will be a girl scount (reppin my youth!) and my fiance will be a boy scout :) We got patches on ebay and everything!
ReplyDeleteDid you see this? Where is the girls occupational?? And who says girls can't be doctors or postmen or rock stars?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wholesalehalloweencostumes.com/kids-costumes/baby-toddler-costumes/boy-occupational
Last year my girl was a pink Wild Thing, and this year she's going to be Totoro. I live in Winnipeg - I have to make costumes for warmth!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! I've had my eye on that lobster costume forever. If I had a baby, I'd do that for sure!
ReplyDeleteI also saw this costume on Pinterest, and I couldn't stop laughing!
M loves D
somehow having a baby makes me excited to dress up for halloween again! my husband is going to be old mcdonald, my baby will be a cow and i'll be a pig :)
ReplyDeleteOne year my husband went as Max and I went as Alice because we thought they were the ideal "children's story couple" : )
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I are going as John Lennon and Yoko Ono from their wedding. I'm also working on a dirndl to wear because my boyfriend doesn't like to go out as much as I do and I don't wanna just be Yoko by myself lol :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be Mike Tyson with the pigeons and face tattoo!
ReplyDeletenew follower and i'm obsessed. these costumes are insainly adorable, but i love the air freshner the best.
ReplyDeleteMy 12 month old, Archie, is going as Arrrr-chie the pirate.
ReplyDeleteI am going as a working mom who is out of town for work. Exciting costume, isn't it? He's only 1...I won't be missing much!
I am SO EXCITED! I'm going to be the Leg Lamp, my hubs the Fragile box, and my 1 year old is going to be the "Pink Nightmare" bunny from A Christmas Story. We are going to be in a costume contest too. Yaaay!
ReplyDelete- Sarah

I'm going to be ex - Mrs. Donald Draper from Mad Men and my husband, Mr. Donald Draper :) Super fun!
ReplyDeleteif i was a little kiddie, i would want to be a jelly baby!
ReplyDeleteLove the lobster and the car-freshener!!! so cute!
ReplyDeleteWe are doing Red Riding Hood story. I will be grandma, my husband will be the wolf, and our daughter will be Little Red Riding Hood.
ReplyDeleteTatyana
Tiny Tim. That's why I'm learning to play the ukelele.
ReplyDeleteWHOA, YEN, that is crazy!!!!!! and they have a little girl's french maids costume!!!! yikes, i'm changing the link to a different shop!
ReplyDeleteOMG I can't wait to see what Toby will be dressed up as. Too excite for halloween this year.
ReplyDeletemandy, that is so cute.
ReplyDeleteI am going to be.................................................... working!!!!!! hooray!
ReplyDeleteOh my...that Max costume IS cute!! My little guy was Max last year. I made the costume and I have to say he was the cutest kid at school :) [I'm biased of course].
ReplyDeleteThis year my boys will be a hobo and a gangster...lol. Both handmade again, so I need to get busy!
Mandy, love that costume, but only if it was hot out.
ReplyDeleteI too try to encourage a group theme and something they can't be any other day (like I nix the sports players since we do that all week!) - my thirteen year old is such a doll and goes along. Last year my daughter was a bumble bee and boys were beekeepers. Very easy to make!
This year, daughter is a mermaid (think Daryl Hannah as Madison in Splash!), middle son is surfer with dreads, carrying a shark bucket, and slashes through his wetsuit. Hence, my 13 YO is Mitch Buchanan from Baywatch with Muscles, wig and whistle. Hope the Indian Summer continues in NJ. Enjoy the halloween fun!
I so much envy the americans! I looove Halloween!
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I plan to celebrate it anyway... I will be a devil... and my little one a pumpkin (if the etsy hat I ordered arrives in time) otherwise he will be a bunny, since this hat arrived lst week! :-)
XX,
A.
My boyfriend is dying to do coordinating costumes. Either we're doing Giada and Bobby Flay (Bobby is his best frenemy), or I'm going to do Annie Hall solo. :)
ReplyDeleteAww, these costumes are precious. I haven't decided on a costume this year. Mainly because it's less celebrated in Italy. What will you be for Halloween? Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI am going to be Idris (the Tardis) from "The Doctor's Wife" and my boyfriend is going as the Doctor from Doctor Who...
ReplyDeleteBecause we are nerds.

Such creative ideas. Love the car air freshener. My daughter is a fairy. Not too original but she looks awfully cute in costume.

the air freshener costume made me laugh. :) and the max costume is incredible!
ReplyDeleteI don't know yet :( I am still thinking...
ReplyDeleteacupofsparkle.blogspot.com
Oh my, Max. Adorable.
ReplyDeleteJoanna, if you have wellies and a fishing hat, you and Alex can be fisherman to coordinate with Toby the Shark!
ReplyDeleteThat lobster outfit is toooo freaking cute. My 3 kids are going to be a Star Wars theme. My middle child who is def the most stubborn of the bunch is Darth Vader-fitting, my oldest is Boba Fett, and my baby girl is Princess Leia- although we will see how long her cinnamon bun headpiece stays on since she's not even a fan of tiny bows!!
ReplyDeleteHalloween could be my most fave time of the year ever since I started having my kids!! How does one trick or treat in the big city BTW?? Do a blog post on that!!
I love that lobster! So creative and fun. Still trying to come up with my costume, but I am thinking about making a kite costume! Thanks for sharing, and I'll post more costume ideas on my blog as well!
ReplyDeletewww.julesmoksha.blogspot.com
jennifer, good idea!! that's much easier than a bloody arm, haha
ReplyDeletethese are all adorable, that lobster just made me crack up at my desk!
ReplyDeletei think my boyfriend and i are going to be bert reynolds and sally field from smokey and the bandit!
I saw that little lobster on pinterest yesterday! So darn cute. No clue what I'm going to be.. my friend made an angry bird costume. Wish I thought of that!
ReplyDeletehttp://becauseimtwentysomething.blogspot.com/
Thanks Joanna! You guys could be SCUBA divers to go with Toby's shark, referencing that photo of the clueless divers with the HUGE shark behind them, I think you posted about that recently??
ReplyDeletehttp://pinterest.com/pin/115500338/
I wish I had a little one to dress up! I'm going to be Edward Scissorhands
ReplyDeleteWell that's settled, first child i have gets carried around as a lobster on halloween! so adorable, i can't wait to see toby the shark!

Toby's costume sounds so cute!! And this year, he's older so he'll be more excited! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Max costume is so cute! It makes me want to dress up as Max too but it would not look as good.
ReplyDeleteYou guys can dress up as Finding Nemo characters featuring Bruce the shark!
Funny, I'm dressing my baby up as a lobster and that exact photo was my inspiration. :) Of course I'm dressing up as a chef. Yay!
ReplyDeleteAww, those pics were super cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm going as Progressive Flo ;) first halloween costume ever.
ReplyDeleteSTOP IT WITH THAT CAR AIR FRESHENER. i have a love/hate relationship with costumes that smother babies. But this is just so cute.
ReplyDeleteps, i'm sure toby will be the cutest shark !
pps, http://amandamantes.blogspot.com !
these are so cute! when i have kids, they will definatly have an outfit this cute. lol
ReplyDeletei'm being a vampire! i pretty one of course, i am going to have AWESOME make-up.

That lobster costume (and baby in it!) is the cutest thing EVER. I am so inspired to have our little family of three dress up as "Annie Hall" -- me in a tie and vest a la Diane Keaton, my husband in Woody Allen glasses, and our little sweetpea as the lobster from that famous scene. :) Great post!
ReplyDeleteThe costumes are adorable and they make me wish I were going to a Halloween party this year. Maybe I could throw one myself...?
ReplyDeleteLove those costumes!! My son is going to be a Viking...appropriate since, at 16 months, he destroys basically everything in his path. I found the CUTEST knitted viking hat on Etsy, and I'm hoping I can figure out how to make a no-sew fur vest ;)

i LOVE that little max costume, i was max a few years ago too! i made my costume from an old long cardigan, scrap material and pipe cleaners. my crown was spray painted tagboard and it was an absolute BLAST.
toby will be an adorable shark!

YES, courtney, that would be amazing!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny, my little boy was a shark last year! (he was one then) -- made the funniest video of him crawling around the place in his costume and set it to the Jaws theme -- grandparents loved it! :) My fave costume growing up was a homemade one of the Pilsbury Dough Boy!
ReplyDeletei think i'm going to be dora the explorer this year. can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteI will be cheese, my husband crackers, and our 19 month old, well he will be whine.
ReplyDelete@Bronwyn - Umm, yeah, my husband and I are right with you on the nerd thing. He's dressed like the 11th Doctor since before Matt Smith joined the cast, so he just has to update his sonic screwdriver (he just has the 10th Doctor's). I'm going to dye my hair a bit redder and try to put together a reasonable facsimile of the Amelia Pond police officer kissogram outfit from The Eleventh Hour. We just re-watched that episode over the weekend for research purposes. :-P
ReplyDeleteMy 3 y.o. son wants to be a Germ. That said, I am trying to decide on being either a box of soap, a doctor, or last night i thought it might be funny to be a CDC worker....
ReplyDeleteThat Max costume is to die for! I'm gonna see if my brother will put my nephew in that haha :) So cute
ReplyDeleteI so want to dress up for Halloween, but I don't have any reason to. We don't know too many people in the town we live, so we're not going to any parties. If I were to dress up, I think I'd go for a 60s mod look. My husband desperately wants to be a baroque dandy, so we'll have to make that happen one of these years.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! You and Alex should definitely be fisherman or surfers. We usually don't dress up, but this year I'm thinking of being Junice and Nick would be Lawrence Welk.
ReplyDeleteJo, these are adorable. Love the lobster!

ReplyDeleteI have not seen anything cuter than the lobster in quite some time. Adorable!
ReplyDeleteBejeweled face, faux-hawk, glittery horn and a sparkly onesie.... UNICORN
ReplyDeletelittle kids are most adorable @ halloween (especially the little guy dressed as a lobster). this year my kids don't want to dress up (gasp! i hope they change their minds...).
ReplyDeleteas for my hubby + i, we're not missin' out. i'm channeling frida kahlo, maybe the mr can be diego rivera?
i'm gonna be a garden gnome!
ReplyDeleteteri

We are having a lot of fun with Halloween this year:) I have two dinosaurs that now actually know how to say trick-or-treat! SO fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be a brand new mom! Simple costume: tired pale face and comfy homewear...wish me luck
ReplyDeleteThat first picture is adorable. We don't celebrate Halloween in Australia. A spontaneous trip to the US may be called for :) x
ReplyDeleteI'm dying over that lobster! I wish my son would sit still for that! My 2.5 yr old will be a lightening bolt, my husband will be rain (grey sweatsuit and felt water droplet on shirt) and I will be a cloud. Should be interesting!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to a Toddlers & Tiaras themed party. So needless to say I'll be dressing myself as an outrageously outfitted toddler wearing way too much make up!
ReplyDeletei'm going to be ms. frizzle!
ReplyDeletehaha, those are too funny and cute! i wish i had a little one to dress up! {one of these days} what is your little one going to be? xoxo
ReplyDeletetinabells
ahhh my nephew was born a couple of months ago, his name is max, and i was SO determined to buy him a max costume, and i wanted this one in particular. it's a little out of my budget, but it's so beautiful i might just get it anyway haha!
ReplyDeleteI'm going as the Lady Jack Sparrow to an all-pirate party! Can you say ARGGG!
ReplyDeleteYou MUST post a picture of Toby as a shark!!!! (Please!)
ReplyDeleteI have to share, since you're a fellow Michigan girl. My friend and I are going as the Upper and Lower Peninsula. I'm going to get my crafty on!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! If I were inclined to steal children (I'm not, don't worry!) I would snatch up that kid modeling the Max costume all for myself!!

ReplyDeletehttp://mollied.blogspot.com/2010/10/charlies-first-halloween.html
haha i would love to dress my dad up in that lobster outfit - he totally loves lobsters. i probably won't dress up this year...i did last year in a mini witches hat and cape.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, that Max outfit is making me want to go as Max!! (I can do that, right? ;) )
ReplyDeletebut actually, in lieu of a Halloween celebration we are going to have a Prohibition party with excerpts from the new Ken Burns' documentary and period cocktails and delicious autumnal nash, in 1920s dress. So, I just have to find the right deco outfit! =) fun, eh?
my boyfriend & i are going to me Marilyn and JFK. (:
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with this frame. The Chevron stripes are amazing! What an awesome giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteI love the lobster costume!! We're going buggy this year: half of us will be bumblebees and the other half of us will be ladybugs. I think Daddy-O will wear his beekeeper suit. And like someone else said, any day is dress-up day in our house. I had three Tiggers bouncing around here this morning :)
ReplyDeleteThat lobster costume kills me. So cute, so clever.
ReplyDeleteOMG these are so cute!!! Lovely photos! Still haven't decided on a costume for myself or my nephews. These are great inspirations though, thanks!
ReplyDeletethose are such cute costumes! i love the max!! i think i'm going to be a can-can dancer from the moulin rouge, i bought a beautiful hand sewn dress at a costume shop, and i'll probably wear a mascarade mask and long gloves with it. originally i was thinking of being an aristocat, wear clothing of an aristocrat and then put on cat make-up, but i'm not sure how many people would actually get it.
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite old go-to costumes will always be my andy warhol.
I AM DYING AT THE LOBSTER IN A POT!!!
ReplyDeletelove this!!
Claw machine!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see that Max photo my heart skips a beat. I swear, I'm usually not this cheesy but that kid is TOO cute!
ReplyDeleteThe lobster is the best!!! Halloween is my most FAVORITE thing EVER! This year, I'm going as zombie Alice in Wonderland. I'm taking a zombie make up class and everything! Haha!
ReplyDeletelucia is going as a peacock this year. the costume is so adorable it should be outlawed. I tried it on her yesterday and I have the funniest photo of her half-crying bc she hates hats! but she LOVED seeing herself in the mirror:)
ReplyDeletelol that is so cute. i love the Max costume! the movie was a little... not what I was expecting. but I did love the music and the visuals. lol
ReplyDeleteSOOO cute. looks warm and cozy too
The Max costume is adorable. I am going to be a lost boy (girl). Not of the peter pan variety - but of the kiefer sutherland vampire variety.
ReplyDeletemy mom made me a max costume two years ago and i'm planning on wearing it again this year.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if the lobster and air freshener are super-genius or super-cute! Especially the lobster one. And since when is air-freshener cute!?
